What was unique?

  • Only a very narrow maintenance window was allowed to minimize the impact on the business operations that run around the clock from Japan, Asia, Europe and North America. Symmetry’s Rapid Platform Migration allowed us to complete the “go-live” effort well within those limits.

  • We provided support and consultancy for 6 months beyond the scope of the project to ensure full knowledge transfer and client satisfaction.

Problem

ERP Production environment running in the de-supported HP-UX UNIX platform (PA-RISC) with no virtualization and no multi-site disaster recovery platform.

Needed to migrate to Linux on Intel hardware platform to reduce hardware costs, improve performance and reduce licensing costs.

Private Cloud Appliance needed to be commissioned on-premises in an isolated network secured with a firewall to comply with corporate security policies. The client did not have the internal expertise to complete this type of project. They needed a partner that would not only lead them through this exercise but one that would also position this environment to be easily managed by their Oracle Applications team, using Oracle Enterprise Manager.

SRG's Rapid Platform Migration methodology enabled a live migration weekend of less than 48 hours. We provided Flexible Time and Skillset model to supply multiple roles (Architect, DBA, Application Developer, etc.) as needed by the different phases of the project.

Weekly updates on progress and budget reports, and daily conferences with our client's single point of contact kept our progress transparent, and our work collaborative. Client was also given full project documentation in a technical “cookbook”, proper knowledge transfer for all components, and training on the principal component analysis (PCA), and implemented Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c for managing Oracle Engineered Systems (PCA, ODA).
